No Unless they want to apologize to all the other people who have had it hard in the country.... The Irish, Italians, Women, American Indians... etc. Oh! I guess that is just about everybody who is here!!

It is awful what took place with slavery.... But my relatives fought on the side of the Union Army which eventually helped to free slaves and I believe the proportion of those who owned slaves or benefited from the trade were in the rich minority. Most of us came to this country to get away from oppression and you have to admit those poor people were more oppressed than anyone as they were sold into slavery by other blacks in Africa as conquered peoples. Being an indentured savant or a surf wasn't too much better.

It is a crutch to focus on hatred of past injustice. It gets in the way of today's happiness.

we have people in my state that are 4th generation Welfare
recipients - nobody has worked for four families worth

How Long, O Lord, how long?

I would have been on the docks telling them to take those people back to their freedom - but I live now - and have many AA friends
and I don;t want to lose them!

And who, pray tell, will apologize when America is 51% Muslim?
And WE Americans by birth are in the minority?
And get voted off---------------

I think we should see if there still is any inequalities in the US now and use the racism of the past as a motivation to never see it again.

Haven't they apologized enough. I'm not trying to be racist but were sorry except it or don't. We've only apologized a million times!

i think apoligizing to people about stuff that happened a long time ago, and stuff that many people arn't involved in is pretty pointless, not trying to be racist or anything
