$568 total, but only about $506 after they take out taxes...

This is just simple multiplication. So if you get paid $7.10 for 1 hour, and you are going to work 80 hours, your equation would be $7.10 x 80hrs = total money earned. So you would make $568.

Saying "per" is the same as saying "divided by." The hours unit on the bottom cancels out with the hours unit on the top and you're left with dollars.
