I sprained my ankle when I missed the bottom step and fell. It didn't hurt too bad at first and my husband and I went to the lake and were doing a little fishing off the dock when the pain really hit and it hurt bad. He took me in to the doctor. They x-rayed and said it was just a bad sprain and to keep my boots on.( I had on a pair of cowboy boots) I thought that was kind of strange advice but went home, not being able to walk and just hobbled around. I had a pair of crutches at home and tried to use them but didn't really know how to use them properly and they hurt so I just used a chair to put my knee on and pushed that around. I went up and down stairs on all fours. This went on a few days before I could put any weight on it but it did get better. BTW the boots came off when I got home from the doctor because I hurt so bad and it was swollen, I just had to get them off.

I was playing rounders in p/e and mucking around with my friends. She threw the ball really high in the air. So i stupidly jumped to hit it and as I landed my right foot got caught behind my left, bent on its side and thats how I landed.
There was a snap, which was the ligaments tearing, and such a horrible throbbing pain.
The teacher thought I was mucking around and didnt realise I was hurt till I didnt get up.
So I got a piggy back from my friends to a seat. And had to go to the doctors to see what happened.
My dad thought I broke it, which scared me cos it was about 4 weeks before I went on holiday.
I had x-rays. Which didnt show a break. But I couldnt put ANY weight on my heel at all. Every time I tried it felt like the bone was gonna snap, not good.
So they gave me crutches, and then i went and saw a physio who helped it a bit. But it was one bad sprain. And the swelling hasnt properly gone down. I sprained it about 7 months ago. I cant run for long distances without it hurting. And uneven grond makes it give way as the nerves are damaged. And being a soccer player its not the best situation.

I hopped off the express bus, and went down immediately. I saw stars. Lots of stars. Someone saw me fall, and the driver asked whether I wanted an ambulance. I asked to be taken to the end of the bus line (a transit center at a mall), and I would call my dad from there. After some back-and-forth exchange, that is what happened.
Dad took me to Kaiser. The doctor at Kaiser said it was a bad sprain, and fitted me with something called an Aircast (2 plastic outside pieces, air-filled plastic soft interior, and Velcro straps to hold it together). I had crutches.
I stayed home from work for a couple days, if I recall correctly; and I stayed home from Mass one Sunday. (I lived with my parents at the time; they were not Catholic. Long story. Going to Mass would have meant being dropped off and getting myself home. This would have taken more energy than I had.)
My first day back to work, I was dropped off at the back door; and I carried the crutches in to work. Someone asked me whether I were carrying the crutches or they were carrying me. I said at that point I was carrying them, but by the end of the day, well. . . .

The first time I sprained my ankle, I was sliding into 3rd base and the base lifted up and my foot got caught underneath it. Ouch. I was safe, thank goodness. My coach wouldn't pull me out of the game. I put ice on it on the way home in the bus. My dad took me to the ER, took exrays, not broken, put me in an aircast and gave me crutches and sent me home. Hobbled around for several weeks. Tried walking home from school, because my mom didn't want to pick me up and turned my ankle on a rock and some nice old lady saw it happen and picked me up and took me home. Boy was I mad!
