I am using a AMD Sempron CPU on a MSI motherboard with two slot for memory one DDR1 and DDR2. The new ram is Kingston while the old ram is AIR, the kingston is double sided while the AIR is single sided. Each time I slot both in, the PC will reboot after about 1-2 minutes later. It's operate well with any of the ram in any of the slots. I hope someone can advise on what to do, thank you.

I am using a AMD Sempron CPU on a MSI motherboard with two slot for memory one DDR1 and DDR2. The max ram is 2GB for an upgrade, I have 512mb on board, the old ram is AIR DDR400 PC3200. The new ram is Kingston DDR400 PC3200. The new ram ha double modules on both side while the old ram has only single module on one side. However the PC keeps rebooting if I placed both ram onto the slots. There is no problem if only one of the rams is in placed. I have tried changing the ram voltage but it doesn't help, the PC runs for a minute of two and then it will reboot by itself. I hope someone can advise on what to do, thank you

Alvin,
Is the RAM Sticks the same, i.e. DDR II or SDRAM, etc. The company name is irrelevant, the RAM has to match identically though.. Good Luck

Let us know which particular model MSI motherboard you have and I can let you know the correct Kingston part number for your board. There are may different variations even though the speed might be the same.

sounds like the kingston is not compatible with the AIR...the fact that the kingston is double-sided while the AIR is not leads me to believe this. you need to add the same type of RAM for them to work together.

Either the types are not correct or the speeds do not match. I inadvertently purchased a 2700 simm when I needed a 3200 for my machine and the speed mis-match caused all kinds of havoc until I figured it out.
