For comparing two negative numbers, think of it like this, which number is closer to 0 after converting the fraction to decimals? -.25 or -.33? -.25 is, therefore, -1/4 is the larger of the two numbers.

[edit] Yar!! I'm very very very very very sure, everyone who said -1/3 is very very very very wrong. The further a negative number is away from zero, the smaller it is. Take a look at a number line....

5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, -1/4, -1/3, -1/2, -2/3, -1 ...Yes, -1/3 is further down the line, but it is also going further in the whole making it smaller than -1/4.

They look about the same size to me. If you want one to be bigger, try changing the font size.

But -1/4 is GREATER than -1/3. Everyone above me is wrong. On a number line, the greater number is to the right, and -1/4 would be a hair farther to the right than -1/3 (a distance of 1/12 farther to the right, to be exact).

- 1/4 is bigger

-1/4  -1/3...........LCM is 12
-3/12 -4/12......... since -3 is bigger than -4,
-3/12 > -4/12

Hence -1/4 is bigger

You'd better read my answer to your previous question. This is too much like me doing your homework. I've already graduated and then some. You need to know this, I already do. This is simple division, turning fractions into decimals.
