Well, humans know they will die. Other animals don't. I'm not sure that makes humans smarter than other animals, but the knowledge, and our capacity to think about it and pass such abstract information on certainly distinguishes us. Of course, it also leads us into a lot of folly sensible animals don't even contemplate. And it's curious that with all that capacity we go on doing stupid and self-destructive things, like war, and jobs, and creating climate change largely for the sake of things we don't need. Smart, clever, but rarely wise - yet we are probably the only animal amongst whom there are some aspiring to wisdom and insight (which is more than information or knowledge).

I love animals more than I love humans, but humans are more intelligent. But animals have this special connection with the Nature, and they are so much smarter than people think. And they feel, just like humans do. I hope people will understand this some day.

The difference is, humans can reason, animals cannot, althought some animals r smart, they r not smarter than most humans. Animals learn by instinct and habit, humans learn by knowledge and experience and the ability to solve problems of daily living.

Humans are the only creature on earth that can create the things we can. Animals can't create one millionth of the stuff we can. Look at a space shuttle. Or a microchip. Animals simply do not even come close to being as intellegent as humans are.

Humans have free will. Many animals only do things because of instinct. There is only one animals (dolphins) that is sexually active for pleasure...all the others are governed by instinct. However, free will can be abused and make humans appear extremely stupid. What animal can go to school and make good grades?

human is smarter because it can use tools and use tools to build tools, to build bigger tools to make money

but dolphins is smarter then human because
it can also use tools and it speaks it's own languge and understands human, but human do not understand dolphins

i am sure that if there is a super computer that's hooked up to a dolphin and let it take a iq test it would score higher then human

Humans can reason, ask questions about the purpose of existence, write poetry, paint and compose complex symphonies. I agree with Sophocles, that there is nothing on earth quite as wondrous as man.

No I cannot. We have more ego and deem ourselves superiior, but I cannot say that we are definitely smarter. If we were, we would be able to communicate with all the 'lesser' animals on earth with full understanding of their language skills etc. Quick example: dogs understand us, but we still do not understand them-- except to say that they are faithful beings-- and that flatters our egos!!
