This is my 2nd year of medical school....and I dont know if I should continue or not.
I wanted to be a doctor ever since I was a child, I wanted to be a doctor so I can help people, save peoples lives. Both my mom and dad are doctors. However, right now, I'm not so sure if I want to be a doctor anymore. I'm studying all the time, that I'm always stressed out. At the same time, I think if I quit now....then I'll regret it later because being a doctor has always been my goal.
Should I continue with medical school, or take a break for a while?

I say have a break. Am I the only one. Let me tell you a story. My Uncle John quit medical school 3 times.
One time he took up teaching - good idea, nice job if you ever have an accident etc and helps with the psychology of patients and really useful with pediatrics.
Eventually Uncle became a doctor specialising in research. He became head of department in a small out-of-the-way hospital. One time these two professors came to the hospital They had been asked to leave Oxford and London no-one would give them a lab to work in.
The committee were evenly divided. My uncle had the deciding vote which is why the Wikapedia dictionary has the following sentences
Doctors Patrick Steptoe and Robert Edwards. The first so-called "test-tube baby", Louise Brown, was born in Oldham, England, as a result on July 25, 1978 amid intense controversy over the safety and morality of the procedure.
My Uncle John was the man who let them use his lab to begin I.V.F. at little old Oldham hospital in Lancashire England and now Oldham is a thriving town.
And every body said he should not have had breaks from medical school. I bet the I.V.F. children are glad he had a break.
Go to it. Do not be one of those arrogant and worldly ignorant idiot doctors who can not listen to patients etc. In 2001 I was virtually dead (it took 10 hours to stabilize me) due to their sort.
Uncle John is very old now but what a legacy he has left.

You should defintely not give up. You made it into med school and just a few more years of schoolling, you'll be finished! Like you I've always wanted to become a doctor too, and I'm planning to pursue in that direction no matter what. Don't give up no matter what. You'll regret it. Taking a break is almost like quitting because most people, when they quit schooling for a while, they leave the "school" mood for good. Don't let yourself down, especially when you have big dreams--you want to save people's lives.
You can do it! D:

If it's your wish to be a doctor & not other peoples then try & stick it out. Perhaps you could try & find someone away from where you are studying who can help you manage the stress & teach you some techniques for coping. A good doctor would recognize the need for it.

Doc, don't be foolish. Have you any idea how badly I would love to be in your shoes? I couldn't get passed the math. No math, no chemistry... Doesn't matter that I practiced medicine in the Navy for 23 years and worked circles around most of the physicians around me. You're stressed out doing the BS academics? What're you gonna do when you have someone's life in your hands and the decision is solely on you? Get a grip. You're supposed to be stressed. They're still weeding out the non-hackers. There are too many days when I wish that I'd never retired. Don't quit. Life WILL get better. Trust me on this one. Have faith.

I'd say you should continue. If you don't you will ALWAYS wonder if you should have kept going. While we all have to make those choices at some point, I say finish; it's worth the stress, it's worth the lost sleep, and it's worth whatever else you have to put up with to do what you LOVE.

I think you should just continue with your studies. Of course it will be hard now, but in the end it will all pay off. You will be happy that you stayed and continued on with your goal.
