It doesn't make noise..it just feels like you peed your pants and some pressure is released from your stomach area.

It's different with everyone. With my first one, it broke in the truck on the way to the hospital, and I was already well into labor. I didn't want to get out and walk thru the emergency entrance cause I didn't want people to think I peed my pants! lol. My second child, my water broke at home when I raised my arms above my head to put on my shirt. Again, my labor was well underway. She was born in the front seat en route. My third child, water broke @ the hospital after a LONG labor. All of mine were a definite GUSH, then a continuous trickle. If the child's head is pressing on the cervix, it may block the water somewhat. Most docs rupture the waters to help speed labor. Midwives tend to 'strip' the membrane for the same reason. Either way, there's no such thing as a 'dry birth' since the uterus continues to produce the fluid throughout labor, to some degree. Good Luck with your little one!

LOL at the Niagra Falls comment.

Well, with my first I felt it. I had a contraction and I felt a pop then warm water running out of me. It did feel like a balloon popping but I don't know if it made a noise...I want to say it did but it was very quiet and only I could hear it.

It doesn't always happen that way. You can have a slow high leak and you would still get discharge but it wouldn't be like a big gush.

Most likely you will know it because there is a significant amount that comes out and if you are contracting you will feel more come out with each contraction.

Hope that answers your question.

No, no popping noise...and not everyone's water breaks at the onset of labor.

My water DID break at the onset, just as I began having slight contractions that made me feel more ill at ease than in pain.

Honestly, I thought that I had lost control of my urine flow...the water just kind of trickled down. There is no pop sound at all. When my placenta broke, the water just kinda trickled a little, but steadily...by the time I got to the hospital, I was having intense labor pains and the water had stopped because the baby was in the birth canal and on the way.

When my water broke, it was only a tear. I still felt a small gush, and some warm fluid. I was at a gas station, so I'm glad it wasn't a huge gush. I wasnt even sure that it was my water breaking, but after I soaked through a couple pairs of undies, I called my midwife.

Haha. A balloon. That's cute. No..that's not how it was for me. My son had kicked a hole in the amniotic sac and I started leaking. They had to completely break my water at the hospital.

May occur with a gush or may be only a continuous watery discharge .It does make any noise and it does not hurt. You might get a little have a little anxiety, because you your about to have your baby.Stay calm.

LOL Sorry, no popping noises. It's sort of a combination of both. It just happens and you feel it. It feels like a gush. Good question though!

I am a father of three, all three times my wife water broke she never felt a thing except for feeling she was all wet. If I can add one more thing, don't panic when it break you still have time to get to the hospital a safe matter unless you have underlieing conditions.

This may not follow suit with you, but my labor was induced and when my water broke, I felt and heard nothing. It was like a trickle that gushed into a flood. Honestly, it is a really gross feeling.
