I already have some basic knowledge of Rumba, but I would like to learn how to walk properly, and other techniques involved.

Going to the lessons? Good for you. I can tell you that you will be learning rumba walks for the rest of your dancing career if you are taking rumba seriously. This is what I do, too. The main thing to master is your posture. Then - a major concept in Rumba is opposition. That is your left side and your right side of the body works in opposition to each other. It holds true for both American and International Rumba. Work the kneee of the free leg forward as you are keeping the knee of the supporting leg straight. That's opposition in the knees. You also do the same in the rib cage: bring the left side forward as your left kne goes forward.
Cuban motion is a result of combination of many basic ideas applied at once. Most instructors don't use the term because it confuses most of the students. It is really nothing more than a buzz word for Rumba. If you are doing the opposition correctly you don't need to worry about cuban motion - it will happen by itself.

There are a couple of techniques such as the cuban walk, which you might know already. Start with your feet together. Without moving your body forward, take a short step forward with your left foot, bending your left knee and as you bend your left knee, be sure that your entire weight is on the heel of your right foot. Your right foot should be flat on the floor with your right knee straight. Then try it with the other foot oppositely. the idea of it is no matter what steps you take, one knee is always bend and the other is straight. and if you want more hip motion to be going just bend your knee further.. Practice in front a mirror.. it's a good help. As for other techniques, well, in rumba the major technique is cuban motion. The rest is more of arm styling and your posture. Most importantly, eye contact with your partner. Have fun!!
