Or should I not work on any file or surf the net as it may cause problem/delay in defragmenting?

NO, when defragging the screensaver, surfing, antivirus, firewall, word and any other activities should be stopped until defrag is done, the program is compressing files, and moving them.. YOU Could screw up the hard drive if you are playing with it while it's defragging...

Unless you want the Defrag to take an eternity to finish.....start the Defrag and walk away from your computer until it's finished.
Hint: I start mine just prior going to bed for the night!

quickly remove Skype and observe if this solves the themes you're having. once you've any anti-virus and secret agent ware classes, run them also. i'm no longer positive about deleting ICQ until eventually you're redyto remove it always. if it really is the case,deliver it to the recycling bin and then empty the bin!

Good question.... I don't know. I don't do it because it seems like my computer needs it's space to put itself in good order.

I've done this while typing a paper and lost the whole thing DON'T DO IT. REPEAT! DO NOT DO IT!
