So I'm sort of just looking for some honest, and even harsh opinions.

When you hear that someone is a "Cable Technician" or "Cable guy". What is your first impression of that person.

Like for example do you think of it as a bottom of the ladder job like the way most people percieve janitors, fast food workers, etc. Or do you get the impression that they are a very skilled and successful person high up on the ladder. I'd like to know the first impression people think.

I suppose as a second part of a question, in your opinion, how does "Cable Technician" look on a resume? Something that stands out in a good way, or something that looks bad, and is better off being left off completely?

I dont think its a profession that you should be ashamed of. the first thing I actually think about is if we become friends, can I get a hook up on some channels! :) Its far from a bottom of the ladder job though

My impression is that cable technicians will be very busy in the coming years stringing fibre cable around neighborhoods, offices and homes. So, my opinion is that I'd have a lot of respect for a person in the job who will be in such high demand.

LOL first thing that comes to my mind is Jim Carry in the cable guy honestly. I don't think of a janitor position or fast food, its definitely above that. I think of someone trained in a skill, and trades are good. People normally respect trades people..
