3 movies have really stuck in my head since the day I saw them.

The first was One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest.
Wow. That made an impression i can tell you. The first film that I watched that MADE ME THINK! Very deep.

The second was Close Encounters of the 3rd kind.
Extremely well made, directed, acted and the portrayal of the 'average' people against the secrecy of the military and government was inspiring.

Finally, and for sheer fun, The Blues Brothers.
Love or hate the music, everyone that sees the film enjoys it!!

They don't make 'em like that anymore!

Old but good...... I still think Lawrence of Arabia by David Lean with a young Peter O'Toole has to be my favorite.
I have loved many others, Close Encounters, Jaws, Edward Scissorhands, The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
But Lawrence was a classic.

#Bridges in Maddisson county" with Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood was a film I could see one more. time without regret. It captured my heart, and was so well played. Miss Streep of course is a most wonderfull actor, but I must say I was most impressed by Mr Eastwood, because he never before struck me as anything but a skinny man with a big hat and a gun in low budget spagettimovies. Here he showed brilliance beyond expectation. I loved it. Greetings from Norway

That would have to be Hannibal with Sir Anthony Hopkins. While not strictly scary, it is elegant in its way of dispatching people... and it is relentless in depicting unusual ways to make people suffer. I like it not for all of that foolishness, but for the elegance of Hopkins' performance which is articulate (especially when he is reciting in Latin) and stinging in its indifference to human life; I especially loved his coldness and precision and belief in his own characterization, which was absolute. He was the person he was acting. He even caught that moment when the senses drift when you do someone in... you wouldn't even want to know how he knew that one... excellent acting, Sir Anthony!

Goodfellas. Joe Pesci was brilliant and well deserved his Academy Award for best supporting actor.
