I am thinking about becoming a Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries officer.I am intrested in law enforcement and wildlife so I think this would be a good job for me.The department offers a student workers program and I am thinking of submitting a application and if it's aceppted I think that will give me a good perspective of the job.Any answers will be appreciated, espcially from any current or former agents.Thank you!

In the state of SC it is hard to get into one of these agencies, so if you are able to get into the student workers program it would be a good place to start and get a foot in the door. It will give an opportunity to see if you want to do this the rest of your life. It sounds like a good job for Spring, Summer, and Fall, but I am not so sure about the Winter.

It is very difficult to get into. My brother has been putting in applications all over the country after he got an honorable discharge out of the army (special ops). He has not had one response. The pay is not great, but the benefits and retirement is very good. If you are the outdoors type and you get it; try it, you may not have the opportunity again.

Good Luck!

It relies upon plenty on the way you outline a "sturdy" job. if you're looking for for for prime pay then that is not a sturdy job. if you're looking for for for a chance-free job then that is not a sturdy job. The job is quite difficult to get, you at the on the spot are not paid a extreme income and maximum states require a level to be considered for the job. the competition is fairly stiff and many of the officials have more suitable degrees in biology, organic world administration, etc. besides the undeniable fact that, in case you adore being contained in the exterior and love regulation enforcement, its an quite sturdy job.

I think that would depend on how much you like wildlife and fisheries. I can't imagine the jobs pays well, so you would have to LOVE doing it.
