They are an alternative, but to a relationship in trouble probably not a good alternative. Swinging or one side swinging (often known as cuckolding) is best done from a very strong relationship.

Oh Joe B.....
I would suggest couples counseling first.. get your relationship in order, THEN, if the trust is there, and you both agree that you can and will be ok with the lifestyle, then go for it! I have some very good friends that have had an open marriage for over 30 years, and they are still very much in love. It's not a way to save a marriage that is having problems, but it is a way to explore your boundaries if you are both secure in your relationship.

Another reason for the popularity of swinging is the lack of men. I personally wouldn't want to share my man. I have a friend that is into swinging. She said they don't "emotionally" cheat. It's just a sex thing. She said it keeps things exciting. I don't think she'd be so into it if he had another home complete with girlfriend and kids on the other side of town.

I had a friend who has that type of life style, she ended divorce her husband anyways, there was too much jealousy in the end, but I think if there are many guys and one woman, it might work out better for her.

It's a gate way to divorce. Happily married couples do it and it all starts with the poision of jealousy and ends up in a nasty mistake called a bitter divorce.

If your marriage in on the way out, open marriage will NOT help it. Open marriage is only for couples who are absolutely secure with themselves and have no jealousy issues. In general, open marriage is NOT for the majority of people/couples.

God has nothing to do with swinging or open marriages. This is free will. These concepts may save or break your marrige it all depends on your communication with your spouse. If the marriage has lost all respect then this is grasping at straws.

If it works for you and your spouse, go for it. But MOST people are not capable of handling it. Most times things such as this end up destroying whatever is left of the marriage.

NO!! Read my post. We were the happiest couple prior to it all, and a year and a half later, she is considering leaving because she doubts my love for her.
