If the files I want to burn total less than 700 megabytes of memory, then why can I only burn and play 80 minutes of that?

I mean, if the memory will fit, then why does the length matter?

Is there any way to put more than 80 minutes of memory on a 700 MB disc?

They will hold 700MB of DATA, or 80 minutes of MUSIC. It is not the disc that is the problem, it is the type of files that you put ON the disc.

It's the same thing said two different ways - 80 minutes of music is about 700 MB. They say it two ways so people who don't know what MB means still have an idea of how much the CD can hold.

It doesn't they are just estimating. If the entire file fits on the disc, it will work. It just says that because video files that are 700 mb are usually 80 minutes but files can by compressed to make them fit.

because thats the extent of data the disc can hold. if you use different formats like mp3 you can get a lot more songs, but the quality of the music is not as good. most people cant tell though. problem with that is you have to have reciever that plays mp3 format. there are no larger discs than 700mb in cd rom. next step up is dvd +/- r, thats 4.7gigs. but that wont play in your cd player.

you can always make MP3 cds and hold hundreds of songs on a disk. Rather inconvenient but it holds what you want it to.

You'd have to have certain cd players to read that format since its a different way of burning music onto a cd
