This site has a few good options

http://www.ibuypower.com

They'll do a core2duo with a gig of ram and a midrange graphics card for about $600...might find cheaper options with the amd chips.

You're always going to be chasing your tail when it comes to gaming systems....especially with the sli stuff that's getting popular now. There's always the option of throwing 500 bucks towards an xbox360 or ps3 and you'll have solid game support for at least the next 4 years without any hardware upgrades.

It aint happening for that price! Hi end games require hi end video cards and lots of ram! Your best bet if you are on a budget is to build your own! That alone will eat the H outta 600 bucks. With Vista? Not less than 800 bucks and thats using some of your old hardware, CD/DVDrom drive, keyboard and mouse, monitor, etc

Walmart has a compaq for 498.00 which is the off brand of HP. Building your own may be a good investment depending on what you want it to do but if it is over $498.00 why not just go buy you a new one. Good luck have a great weekend

Notepad and Wordpad are the two portion of Vista and XP. No version of domicile windows has ever contained any portion of MS place of work. place of work has consistently been a separate application that must be bought and put in. you are able to consistently try OpenOffice, that's a unfastened, open source place of work suite. obtain and deploy Java first, then OpenOffice.
