You know, in the beginning they never mentioned it and then later after Bam Bam was left at the front door he was working at the Quarry.
In the movie they used the storyline on Barney being jobless but needing a job because they wanted to adopt and Barney gets hired on at the Quarry but ends up losing his job because he switched test papers with Fred and had the boss thinking Fred was highly intelligent. So having the lower score, (Fred's) Barney was fired.

Everyone knows that he stole his fruity pebbles...duhh..lol jk..didn't he just stay at home with his kids?? Or no..I think he worked with Fred Flintstone...not sure.

He worked there with him later on in the shows. In the beginning of the shows his job was just left up in the air, meaning they never mentioned it.

Yeah, didn't he work there with him?
I know he did on the first flinstones movie, until he had to fire him for a promotion.
