NO. Come on man they are comparing him to Gretzky, how much more of a rating do you want? You can't be better rated then compared to who the NHL says is best. Now as a Pittsburgh fan you could say Mario was better, but as a general thing you go by the NHL calls Gretzky best.
Oh and to those who want to say well he plays on the line with Malkin, yeah that isn't too common. Coach Therrien will put them together when the team NEEDS a goal. Usually though Malkin is the second line Center. Crosby tends to play with Recchi and Malone if I am not mistaken. Sorry but the way that Therrien has a habit of changing lines in mid game it is hard to remember the normal line.Yeah though most of the time the other wing would be Armstrong or Malone I believe. Now if it is Power Play you may see them together, or shift change, but as a general line they are only together when the team needs a goal.

He is definitely not under-rated. I am a Penguins fan and live in Pittsburgh, so I get my steady dose of Crosby from the local media. Most of the time well deserved. He is one of, if not the best in the NHL right now at 19. He is going to have his second 100 point season and barring injury will lead the league in scoring at, once again 19. So those of you that think he is over-rated you are nutz. Get you head's out of Gretzky's lap long enough to realize that here in Pittsburgh the media doesn't even compare THE KID to Gretzky! They wonder is if he can be as great as Lemieux!!!!!

Simply put, Sidney Crosby is definitely NOT underrated. He is clearly the best, without a doubt, young player in the NHL today. He is the most prolific scorer in the NHL in his second year in the league, and he was by no means a slouch last year. I see him as future MVP for many years, and im not even a penguins fan. Point being, there is no denying that this kid is the real thing, and EVERYONE knows it. If not, you are in denial.

No, he's gotten plenty of recognition, and he deserves all of it. When you're the best player in the league and everyone knows it, its hard to be under-rated.

As for those who say he's over-rated, give me a break. If Crosby is over-rated, so is every other star in the game. He has 13 more points than the next guy, if you didn'talready know.

Sid the Kid is definitely over rated. People are saying he is the greatest scorer ever, but if you look at his stats, out of his 96 points (as of 2/24/07) 70 of them are assists. Just because a guy can pass doesn't mean he is the greatest player ever, even if he is 19. I think he is good for hockey's future, but after 2 seasons saying he will be the next Gretzky is ridiculous. Watch during a game, if he isn't standing right next to or behind the net waiting for a pass, he is complaining to a referee.

Not at all. Sidney gets a lot of attention but he deserves it. He's the real deal and he's met all of the incredible expectations that have been heaped on him.

For those who have said he's over-rated - give it up. The guy's still in his teens and he's the NHL scoring leader. He'll break the 100 point barrier in the next few days and he's the main catalyst for one of the most exciting offenses in the league. He's great, accept it, and instead of slagging him just enjoy watching him play.

I'll say it ... he's overrated!

If people were saying that Crosby is the greatest player in the league (or even the world) - I'd be ok with that.

BUT far too many people are saying this kid is the greatest player ever ... better than Howe, better than Gretzky!!

I'm sorry, but two seasons do not make you the greatest ever!
Selanne had 76 goals and 132 points his first season
Lindros scored more than 40 goals three of his first four seasons.
Lemieux recorded more than 100 points in 8 of his first 10 seasons!
Gretzky recorded more than 200 points in his 4th, 6th, 7th, and 8th seasons in the league.

As greatest ever ... Sid the Kid is OVER rated!

Yes. Too many people are still acting like Ovechkin is as good or better than Crosby is, when the points race dictates otherwise.

Aw look at me. I'm a hater. I think Sidney Crosby is over-rated. Whatever. How can you be over-rated when you get back to back 100-point seasons (as he soon will accomplish) and you're not even 20 years old. Please. Sidney gets all the recognition and rating he deserves.
