When the world looks at Americans like Anna Nicole, the Judge in her trial, Britney Spears, Bush, do they just say to themselves that Americans must be the biggest fools on the planet or do they say that they wish they could be just like the Americans?

Anna Nicole and Britney Spears are celebrities who aren't necessarily the brightest bulbs on the Christmas Tree. But they're popular and famous nonetheless. Other nations may choose to not want a democracy if they see all the relatively pointless things it focuses on (i.e Britney buzzing her head). But nonetheless, foreign policy of other nations is not based on what celebrity does what.

As far as our president, Bush, goes, he may not be able to articulate his agendas nor do people agree with his policies, but he is not stupid. He would not be able to be in the position he is in today if he were stupid. He's the Commander and Chief of the United States of America, one cannot be dumb and have that position.

The US isn't judged by what our society does, everyone needs our money too much. And even if they didn't like it, they'd fall apart without the American economy.

finally! actually everyone looks starting off their eyes to make sure the reality and the info displayed the following communicate for themselves. After that tremendous answer from gypsy_cat 345, i have not were given a lot to say except that individuals like Vanessa ought to look on the bigger image and make her own exams, truly than believing in what the media pick human beings to trust. also, i do not imagine human beings ought to balme the Islamic faith for the movements of ignorant so-observed as Muslims who declare they're appearing on its behalf. secondly, i do not imagine Israel is only a small united states of america that desires to be left on my own. If this became the case it don't have waged an entire-blown warfare on lebanon, killing thousands of those with the intention to regain 2 of their squaddies who were captured by Hezbollah. shouldn't they imagine about liberating the thousands of lebanese prisoners at present in Israel! Thirdly, Muslims do no longer have some thing adverse to Jews. the topic is with the Zionists and Israelis. BTW, i'm no longer Lebanese. i'm in simple terms declaring what i beleive is the reality

Great point! I, for one, was ashamed to be an American after that Prince Super Bowl half-time joke. Why does nearly everything in American culture have to be over sensationalized? They're laughing, but who cares. That's all they can do about it. If they don't approve of our big Satan hip hop culture, we'll send in our military, wipe-out their leadership and infrastructure. We won't leave until we've tagged our gang graffiti on their precious little national monuments and have incited a civil war!

I think people in other countries probably watch American pop culture like Americans watch reality shows. I hope they realize that pop culture in the broader sense (music, movies) is largely driven by the young.

As for the celebrity worship cult, I think the American media gives it it's impetous, and Americans gobble it up.

The American political situation on the other hand, is followed, perhaps, by a different segment of society, one that probably has only a passing interest in the pop circus

I don't think that they necessarily want to be like us, but like voyeurs, peeping through the windows, they love to watch. ;-)

Other countries eat up American pop like candy. If anything, our pop culture is our greatest diplomacy to date.

Chances are, Iraqis and Afghans and North Koreans would LOVE America if not for our foreign policy.

Actually, alot of countries love pop culture in the Western world. One cool thing to do is visit the different MTV sites for different countries and look at the similarities in what's hot with pop culture. Alot of countries follow our culture quite well.

You certainly come over as a mixed bag and you certainly would never be role models or much admired by the French for example but I think we will all look back w. fondness on America's days as number 1 when China takes over the reigns.

And what have you done to make our image better? Anything? I agree our pop culture is a big disgrace and while you are worried about the worlds image of us because of it I worry more about the message it's sending our kids.

Pop culture does more damage. It makes us look like boobs by making us look like we have all this wealth and do not know what to do with it, when only movie stars and pop icons live that way.
