Intel's Core 2 Duo.

not sure you'd need the higher levels of that cpu for that but it is the fastest processor on the market.

AMD's X2 line isnt bad, its what i use. Cheap, fast and runs great. -for what you're doing.. you cant go wrong with AMD.
OF course.. thats Dual Core processors.. Single core AMDs are great as well.

so far everything you listed can be handled easily by a pentium 3 so i wouldn't worry too much

core2 duo is a good chip but if you're looking for a cheapie system and not into gaming or heavy processing go with an older 875chipset canterwood board and a pentium d processor.

The best fastest is going to be a 1066MHZ FSB Quad Core 2.4 GHZ.

Which is about 10 times more computer than you need for the items you mentioned.
