THE DEPARTED because it had great actors and Martin Scorsese is one of the best director

Admittedly I loved another movie more than these five, but I will stick to the question at hand (unlike others).
I would choose between The Departed and Little Miss Sunshine.
Babel is a great film with great intertwining stories and performances, The Queen is a great movie but one that feels more like a documentary than dramatic film, and Letters From Iwo Jima is a great "non-war film" film, but could have been so much more dramatic if they allowed the audience to feel for the characters more.
That being said I would choose The Departed. I LOVED Little Miss Sunshine and thought the performances were near perfect and the story was both heartwarming and heartwrenching at the same time.
But The Departed is a film that brings back the true mobster film and gives it a new twist and a new look. With brilliant performances by DiCapprio, Damon, Nicholson and Wahlberg (that feels wierd to type), and direction that makes all other films look "different," The Departed was the best film of 2006 (of the ones nominated of course :)).

I despised the movies I actually saw selected for Best Picture. But out of them, I think The Departed will win.

The Departed.
Its on every list for the Best Movie of the Year. But you never know.
It could go to Babel.

It's really a toss-up....i cant remember when the race was so close..each of these movies have a chance but if i had to choose it would be the Queen b/c helen mirin(sp?) gave an amazing oscar worthy performance....she is def gonna win best actress

I think it should be The Departed, i haven't seen the movie but i heard it's a really goo movie!!!!!! also marin the director did a really good job and he deserves his oscar!!!!!!!!

babel with out a doubt, because it was unique.The Departed was good but how many cop or mobster movies have you seen that are almost the same..babel !
