right now we have 28 pigs and one is due any time soon so what should we do with them when they are old enough to be weaned from their mothers (we can not eat them they cost a lot of money) should we keep some of them, put them in a sale/auction or private sale them ???we have them as pets and we love them very much some people have a bunch of cats or dogs but we have a bunch of pigs instead

If I was in your siciation I would...

sell- 2 boys, 1 girl

keep for breeding- 3 boys and 3 girls

key- 1\3 sell, 2\3 keep

Sell your boars or learn to casterate them. They will multiply rapidly. Wean at 4 weeks, sow comes back into heat in 5-8 days, will farrow in 3 months, 3 weeks and 3 days. You do the math. If they are pets, keep your gilts or build a lagoon to go with your large amount of critters!

Sounds like you just started a pig farm. I hope you like it. But if you don't you should be able to get a good price at the sales and auctions. Unless they are pot belly pigs then you can sell them easier individually. Good Luck.
