Which is a more lucrative career?

This includes how many opportunities as well as how lucrative they are. Thanks!

The word "lucrative" in these two fields is limited to the
most talented and industrious. If you fit the bill, then I
would say writing would present a steadier source of
income. While writing the great American novel, you
could have a newspaper column, free lance for a music
magazine, work as an editor in the private sector or
for a book company. You could even supplement your
income writing funny greeting cards ...sounds banal but
they pay quite a bit for this. Musical theatre is iffy as
you're only employed for the run of the play. Then it's
back to square one. Some of these productions close
down in two weeks, and if you're lucky enough to be
involved in a hit, then the tedious job of repeating the
same thing, night after night, can take it's toll on your
sanity. Good luck in either choice...just follow your
heart.

If you plan to write or sing for the money, you're doing it for the wrong reason. Better to get a day job and sing or write on the side. Then it's a passion, not a job, and you won't be so disappointed if you don't turn out to be in the .001 percent that make it in show business.
