It's possible that your password was guessed by someone and they used your account to scam others. It's also possible, if you use a public computer (at school or the library, for example) that you forgot to log out and someone used your account to scam others. There has been alot of talk in a community I'm in that there are users who are embedding cookie grabbers in their user look ups and shops.
I've also head alot of talk about people, who were good upstanding citizens of Neopia, being frozen for no good reason and not being able to get their accounts back.
TNT (The Neopets Team, otherwise known as the powers that be) may be easy to get in touch with, but I've heard that they sometimes take a while to get back to people. One thing I can tell you for sure, though, you won't get a reply over the weekend. The Neopets offices shut down over the weekends just like a regular business, and they won't be back in the office until Monday... and imagine how many users had problems over the weekend that they want addressed, too!
Will you get your account back? Honestly, unfortunately, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. If you can somehow prove that is wasn't you that tried to scam people, you may have a chance. But I don't know how you can do that when you're not sure of how it happened.
A friend of mine lost her accounts when she went on a spending spree. She was a collector of one kind of plushie and splurged one day and bought several hundred of them. Her accounts were frozen because TNT thought she was using an auto-buyer. She wasn't, but she still can't get her accounts back.
I wish you the best of luck. I've seen people who were premium members iced for things that they did not do and not been able to get their accounts back! (And you would think that premium members would have some sort of leverage against that!) To get an account back after it's been frozen is not an easy task. If you're insistent on getting the account back, you're may have a long road ahead of you.
Oh, and to the person who, it seems, made a comment about you being too old for Neopets and told you to go get a life... I happen to be 35, have a husband, children, and a life... and I play Neopets everyday. I've been playing since I was 29 and never stopped. From what I've seen in my years on Neo, there are tons of us "golden oldies" playing Neo and we don't plan on going anywhere! There are grandparents who play, many college students who play, many, many mothers who play. Neo is a great stress reducer! When my daughter goes in for a nap or on nights like tonight when my husband is off to work until tomorrow morning, I take some time and play games. (Right now, Neo is helping take my mind of my upset tummy [yay, for morning sickness!])
What part of that says that I have no life? I'm sorry that some people have to make rude comments in order to make themselves seem important. I've learned to just ignore them and move on. Just a suggestion! :-)
Good luck with getting your account back. Whether you do or not, try not to let it get you down too much. I know it may seem cold, but you can always jump back in the saddle with another account.
Good luck.
