it's not the water temp that shrinks clothes. it's the dryer that shrinks them
cotton has a shrinkage rate of about 5-7% unless it is made in India. that cotton shrinks a lot more.
wash in what ever temp water you like, but dry on the low or no heat cycle.

I'm not sure, if it does shrink you can prevent it from shrinking by washing it it cold water and don't put it it the dryer

If it is 100% cotton it will shrink. Wash in cold water only and hang to dry.

Some are treated not to shrink. To be safe, use cold or cool water to wash them in, and low setting on dryer.

A lot of cotton does shrink when washed, especially in hot water. However, most cotton clothing today is pre-shrunk and unless you wash in very hot water and dry with hot heat, you won't notice much shrinkage

you can wash them in cold water then hang them up to dry.
But if you wish to use the dryer, shrinking is inevitable.
