According to my first year english professor better dead than read constituted great literature. We disagreed , he put me in remedial english, I ended up writing for the newspaper. LOL
Great literature moves you. It tells a story that resonnates with your soul while teaching something without you realizing it . You want to the book to go on after you finish it. You want to know what happened to the characters next.
Great literature stays with you, you remember it if you read it yesterday or thirty or sixty years ago.

There's a timelessness to it, where you can relate to the story even if it was written 100 years ago or 1000 years ago.
