If i douche while pregnant will it cause me to have a miscarraige? I have read different medical articles and all have contradicting statements. Some say that it will cause a miscarraige, and others say that it will not.

I am not douching, but my mother in law suggested it to me. I thought that it sounded strange to do that in the first place, but even more so that i am pregnant.

You are not supposed to douche while you are pregnant. The vagina has a ph balance that you can throw off by douching and get yeast infections. The vagina is a self-cleaning organ, that is why you have regular discharge.
Do not risk it. Douching is not neccesary for your feminine health or hygeine!

First of all you shouldn't douche in the first place. Douching upsets your vagina's chemical balance. Your vagina has certain bacteria and is acidic to protect you. If I was pregnant I wouldn't do anything that would even risk causing a miscarriage. Maybe it does since douching does cause an inbalance. I think the important issue here is why you douche. If you have concerns about douching tell your doctor and find alternatives for the problems you have that cause you to douche.
Take Care.

Douching is not healthy and not necessary. The vagina is self cleansing so there is absolutely no need to douche, ever. Douching can alter the pH balance of the vagina, and it can actually LEAD to infections and pelvic inflammatory disease. It can also make the environment inhospitable to sperm and it can wash away your important cervical mucus. Scented tampons and vaginal sprays are also to be avoided. UTI's can lead to vaginal infections that may alter the pH balance as well, as do yeast infections. All the infections can certainly decrease the chances of pregnancy that cycle. Good luck to you:)

I am not in the medical field in any way, but I have heard that douching during pregnancy can cause miscarriage if it is done in the first few months. I don't know the credability behind it though. If you are concerned, you should ask a doctor.

Why would you want to douche while pregnant? You may give yourself an infection by getting rid of the good bacteria. Ask your Dr.

You do not need to douche, you affect the delicate PH in the vagina, stripping away not only bad bacteria, but also good bacteria, that fight off infections. My advice.....Don't douche

If in doubt, don't douche. Your body never needs it anyway ... you cleanse yourself naturally. Douching can cause problems in non-pregnant women.
