I love Shawshank Redemption and Seven like many of the rest, but I think you have to go back a little farther and watch Glory. Not only is the film a classic war drama, but Freeman's performance is trademark Freeman before it was trademarked. He is the leader of the group and the father figure that everyone looks to (this is the way we see him in films like Shawshank and Seven).

No doubt about it -- Shawshank Redemption!
Morgan Freeman was behind me in the grocery store a few years ago and he seemed like the nicest guy. He was trying out his Spanish with the cashier and seemed to radiate happiness.
