I would look back and pick a classic like Casablanca. Every performance is perfect (rare for films today), the music fits, the story is great as well as suspenseful, and it is the best screenplay I have read or seen in film. Take a look back at the best movie of all time.

"Casablanca" is still one of the best movies ever made. Great characters who are simply cooler than almost anyone you know (cool is innate-trying for it means automatic disqualification) and an elegant and simple realization of the world in which they live. "Ben Hur" is the best action movie IMHO because the characters are believeable and tragic, the action is as tight as anything coming out of Hollywood today, and for the hero, there's revenge, romance, ruin and redemption. Hm. I wasn't going for alliteration there.

Who can actually say they like one movie the best without automatically thinking of another movie that you liked just as good?

DeeCee has it right. "African Queen" is the finest, best cast, best story, best filmography that I have ever seen. In 75 years, one sees a lot of films, but I never saw a better one than that. I get it out and run it when there are nothing but "action" and scare films around. Love it.
