It's obviously going to be a 3 team race again...

I think once again the Yankees are looking like the front runners....

I think this year's Wild Card will definately come from the AL East, and don't be shocked if the Blue Jays get it over the Red Sox...

but i think it will be interesting to see, because i think all 3 teams will have very strong campaigns, and infact they will probably have 3 of the top 4 records in the East. (IF NOT THE TOP 3)

I really think the Yankees got one of the best pitchers in the league when they re-acquired Pettite, and Chin Ming Wang has developed into a fantastic pitcher. (you could see it at the end of last year)
But i think the Red Sox X-factor will be Dice-K. If he plays well Boston might win the division, if he plays poorly they might not make the post-season.

10 years in the past while the devil Rays have been the doormat of the AL East, in the event that they had to furnish away 20,000 tickets just to generate interest interior the group interior the final 2 weeks of the season, that would have been comprehensible. The Rays gained the AL Pennant in 2008 and characteristic gained the AL East this year, however the attendance at Tropicana container remains a substantial subject. I won't congratulate them. they do no longer deserve it. And that is no longer basically pink Sox fan bitterness, seem on the loyalty of followers in places like Chicago, Detroit, even Kansas city. The St. Petersburg/Tampa Bay section has shown that it is not a substantial league marketplace. once you asked who might win the 2020 international sequence as a shaggy dog tale, countless human beings stated the Las Vegas Rays. maybe they're going to draw extra ideal there. BQ: i'm following NFL sunday as properly via fact the Padres-Giants interest on a similar time as attempting to do some jobs around the residing house.

I beg to differ.

They have POTENTIALLY a good rotation. Schilling is 40 and had an awful last month of the season. He wanted the contract because he knows he won't get $13 million at the end of the season.

Matsuzaka has not pitched in the major leagues yet. Are you sure he is going to be great? Or is he the next Hidecki Irabu?

Beckett gave up 35 bombs last year and had an ERA of 5.00

Papelbon is going into his first season as a starter and had a bad shoulder last season.

Wakefield is getting old, and hitters are used to his knuckleball.

Good relief? Who is going to be their closer? Joel Piniero who looked like a batting practice pitcher last season? You are a little too excited.

It is going to be the New York Yankees as usual (yawn). The rotation is going to be better as the season goes along. Phil Hughes will replace Pavano, and will begin beating Boston on a regular basis for years to come

Try the Yankees. Since when is the Sox rotation so good. Schilling has reached his point, Matsuzaka and Papelbon need to prove themselves. Lineup? Yea, 2 people don't make a lineup. Ok defense, but relief? Who's the closer? No, no, the Yanks by AT LEAST 5 games, over the Blue Jays, maybe 7 - 10 over the Sox.

#27 dis year. all da way.

No brainer question. Do I have to remind all of you about the Boston Massacre II and every1 expected the Sox to win it last year as well but they end up being 3rd in the east 10-11 games back. Its the New York Yankees is the team to beat right now in the MLB. THEY IMPROVED THEIR PITCHING. Better farm system they can get better players in the minors and the offense crazy sick insane good. .342 hitter hitting 9th in the lineup wat do you call that they dont have enough room in the top of the order for him cause they have a great offense. Yankees will go all the way and capture their throne back (27th World series) GO YANKEES!!!

I'm going with the Yankees. No they may not have the best rotation but they always manage to find a way to win amidst injury, then they usually run out of gas in the playoffs (but that is another story). Boston on the other hand, usually starts out strong, has one problem and the whole ship goes down. Look for NY to put another AL East trophy in the case.

My money is on the yankees. The Red Sox always seems to fall apart in September. But it doesnt matter if they yankees win the division or not....they wont win the world series. The world series is something the yankees have NOT won n the 21st century!!!

I would agree with the Sox. I think they have ONE OF the best rotations. Schilling is getting up there in age-still one of my favorites though-esp. in the play-offs. Beckett was nothing too special-an ERA OVER 5.00. Dice K has never pitched a game in the MLB yet so wait to see. Papelbon has 3 career starts-his ERA has to go up. Wakefield is a good depth starter.
They have a good line-up but not as great if Manny starts sitting or whatever Manny does. I am not a JD Drew fan.
They have a good bullpen but the most important piece (closer) is iffy.

the red sox should win the division. the addition of jd drew, julio lugo, a healthy coco crisp and dustin pedroia should really boost the offense. the rotation should be one of the best in the league. matsuzaka is a younger version of david cone. the only question is the closer spot, which i think will go back to jon papelbon, even though the team says otherwise. the yankees have taken a step back in order to regroup their team. brian ca$hman has made some great moves to bolster his minor leagues with excellent pitching. the only problem is that phillip hughes is the only one ready to help this year. their offense and rivera will give them a great shot at the wild card though.

for the yanks fans who don't agree with my comparison to david cone, check out the link below. tom verducci(on yankees hot stove, on YES) is the person i first heard to make that comparison.
