http://www.lavasoft.com
http://toolbar.yahoo.com (included in toolbar)
http://www.microsoft.com (Defender is the programs name)
If those don't help it may be a virus.

Probably got nothing to do with a virus. Get the free AVG and put that to rest . www.grisoft.com Remove the old Mcaffee or Norton from ADD DELETE Programs in my computer.
The things that slow down a computer are mostly due to a Registry problems. I dont know if youve bought anything to clean up the registry, if not get yourself a 30 day free trial from Tune-Up Utilities. That will clean up registry and restore damaged files, it will clean and restore the computer system.
Go to www.tune-up.com and get the 30 day free one. I use that same one for about 3 years and Now i get the paid one. Dont download free scans they are a waste of time since youd have to pay to even try them Whereas this is a fee for use 30 days.

(1) If you have not already scanned your comp with spybot do that now .Update it and then run it so it gets rid of all the spyware and trojans in safe mode
(2) Do an online virus scan to check if you still have any other viruses in your computer. And let us know if the online virus scan still finds any virus or spyware .
Install and run CCleaner a freeware system optimization and privacy tool.
. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history.

Use your anti-virus to run a full system scan and delete it or download http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1 and use that it you dont already have an anti-virus installed.
If no virus....ways to gain space for computer to run faster.
1.start,control panel, performance/maintenance and click free up space on hard disk. This will make the computer faster.
2.Buy for RAM (space) for computer.
3. start, control panel, performance/maintenance and click rearrange items on your computer to make programs run faster. This will also make computer faster.
4. Go into start, control panel, add/remove programs and remove programs you dont need.
