I am NOT trying to offend anyone, Im just curious as to why some people dont seem to care if they are obese. There are way too many Americans who are obese and the numbers continue to grow. So if you are obese and not doing anything about it i would just like to hear your reason why. Again, i am not trying to offend anyone, although im sure i will get some pretty hostile answers.

Because they are lazy. And today, it seems to be more accepted and doctors will diagnose it as a medical problem, so the obese people feel it is not their problem to deal with the weight and that it is the doctors problem to solve. And as long as society believes that BS, obsesity will be considered a disease that people can collect SSI for, so there is no reason for them to lose the weight if they can live off of tax dollars and not have to work . They are just plain lazy. I don't believe people just balloon up to 450 pounds overnight and say, I have a disease. OH please, get up off you lazy butt and take a walk around the block.

I think that a lot of obese people believe that there isn't anything they can do anyways, so why try? Short of unhealthy fad diets and expensive surgeries, losing mass amounts of weight is a daunting task, especially to people who don't even know how they accumulated all the weight to begin with.
I think, if nothing else, people who are more than 50 lbs. overweight should at least take measures to not gain MORE weight. Some let go completely and just eat whatever they want because they believe they're past the point of no return.

I think they care but some might feel hopeless, so then they just ignore the issue. If people don't care about being obese then they must not care about themselves and their lives.

yeah, im sure people are gonna be mad, but hey, who cares?
i think it boils down to money. it takes more to eat right. also effort. people are lax these days and are used to being comfortable. this problem is occurring many places. china especially. the economy in wealthy countries attributes to it i think.
i assume youre wondering b/c the health ramifications and not appearance right? b/c if its looks then you are just another person to swallow the hollywood crap. but it really didnt sound like it from your question tho.
anyway, thats my take.
