Lookd like im in the minority here. For sure John Lydon is relevant. He was the driving force behind the Sex Pistols & co-wrote God save the queen. Pretty vacant, Anarchy etc. He's had such an influence on post-punk, the madchester sound even today's indies like Kaiser Chiefs who name-check him.Buy any music mag that runs a poll - 9 out of 10 times Lydon will be up there as an icon. That's why he presents a rock legends show in LA - the radio station recognizes his importance & know-how.

Opinionated and quite interesting, but I don't think relevant anymore. And bigger than the Beatles? No chance. The Sex Pistols made one album, the Beatles have made about twenty and are known the world over. The Beatles were icons for our times and have influenced all types of music since. They also cracked America to an extent that very few British artists have managed. The Sex Pistols, I'm sorry, were the musical representations of Britain as the 'sick man of Europe.' The dreadful, Eurosclerotic punk era of the late 70s and early 80s.

The name is Lydon & of course he is totally relevent today. All major bands & some not so major will say that the pistols were a huge influence on them.
Noel Gallagher of Oasis to name but One.
The Pistols are the Godfathers of punk & while Mclaren(ex manager) is a total W**KER, Johnny was the real driving force behind the Pistols along with Glen Matlock(original bassist) Just listen to the Pistols music today & it still sounds fresh & still puts most of todays "boy punk" bands to shame!!
LONG LIVE JOHNNY & GOD SAVE THE SEX PISTOLS!!!!!

Of course John Lydon's relevant, his music with the Sex Pistols revolutionised music. Now, anything goes in the music industry which would never have been achieved without bands like The Sex Pistols, and later on Public Image Ltd, With Lydon as front man. and we mustn't forget the work Lydon has done with the band Leftfield, now they're incredible. and John Lydon is a genius; and he has a great sense of humour to-boot.

I always thought that the Pistols sucked. PIL was marginally decent, but Lydon has very limited talent.
