A duvet cover is something you can put your old comforter in if you want to change colors or your old comforter is looking worn or stained. The duvet cover isn't going to keep you warm without you putting something in it.

You need to "fill" the duvet with a blanket of some sort, like for instance I put a comforter i didn't like the way it looked inside of the duvet. The comforter didn't match my decor anymore but the duvet cover did.

duvet covers just cover comforters.. its like a pillowcase for your comforter.. but if you buy a nice down comforter theyre great because you can change your sheets for less than half the price of a new bed set and still have a great comforter

a duvet (pronounced doo-vay) is a "slipcover" so to speak for your comforter. because of it's filling - fiber, feather or what-ever, a comforter is hard to wash and expensive to keep dry cleaning soooooo you zip or slide the comforter into the duvet, snap or zip it shut and when dirty undo, take the comforter out and wash the less bulky duvet.
