To not mutilate the body parts that God gave man. Circumcision is a barbaric, unnecessary practice that's been perpetuated by doctors and hospitals that like to charge parents about $300 for the horrible act. Think about it-- why would you want to hack off part of your child's sex organs? The "medical benefits" that some group-thinking moron will probably now claim are a bunch of bull. Medical problems resulting from having all one's body parts intact such as foreskin are very few. The question really ought to be what is the purpose of BEING circumcised. I am circumcised and I don't like it. Why? I have sex just fine, but check out a porno with an uncircumcised male in it sometime and notice how the foreskin is allowed to go up and down much further, which is the action that creates pleasurable feelings. Go to a briss (circumcision) sometime and listen to the baby's blood-curdling screams when he's circumcised. That creates a lot of mental anguish for the parents and God only knows how much for the boy. This practice needs to be stopped. Google this subject to find out more-- I really wish that part of my sex organ hadn't been hacked off at birth.

You question is a hot topic. If you type into yahoo's search engine, it will give you 1000 sites that deal with it.
Some people are as strongly against it as others are opposed to abortion and picket about it. There are organisations of doctors, nurses, Jews, and others who are against circumcision. You will find pages strongly advocating it. You will find support groups for men who have been circumcised and are grieving for their missing foreskin.

Here is a statement from some doctors:
"Is Circumcision Necessary?
The use of circumcision for medical or health reasons is an issue that continues to be debated. Currently, the American Academy of Pediatrics does not recommend routine circumcision for newborn males stating the evidence was not significant enough to prove the operation's benefit. The procedure may be recommended in older boys and men to treat phimosis (the inability to retract the foreskin) or to treat an infection of the penis."

Some claim that it improves hygene. What improves hygene is washing. You don't cut off your toes to prevent toe "jam" from developing between your toes!

What is the purpose of being intact? Simple! ... That's the way God made men ... in his image. Or was natural selection responsible?

At any rate, the foreskin has complex, multi-dimensional functions and anatomical features. Much is still not fully understood about the foreskin, as research into the intricacies of its design only began about ten years ago. This we do know ... it is only possible for a married couple to experience a normal sex life if both are intact ... that is, whole and complete, with all their constitutent parts unharmed.

Just inside the foreskin opening are Taylor's "ridged-bands", highly sensitive, transversely wrinkled folds of tissue comprised largely of "Meissner's Corpuscles", which bear a striking similarity in their sensitivity to light touch with similar nerve endings found in the finger-tips and lips.

The rest of the inner foreskin is fairly smooth mucosal tissue, rich in nerves, and it is identical to and a prologation of the mucosa of the sulcus and glans.

The frenum surrounds the foreskin opening in a sort of "hangman's noose", which attaches to the penile shaft in a separate narrow thread, or cord, which fits into the cavity of the glans just below the meatus. The frenum also contains Meissner's corpuscles, and it is richly innervated. One purpose of the frenum is to pull the foreskin automatically back over the glans following retraction.

During intercourse the foreskin works in concert with the vaginal sphincter, alternately retracting upon entry, and covering, again, on withdrawal. This action serves to conserve vaginal moisture.

Circumcised men don't have this luxury, with the result that vaginal moisture is gradually wicked to the outside air during intercourse. Consequent drying eventually causes unpleasant chafing. Artificial lubrications, sticky, messy, and expensive, were invented to overcome this deficit. Intact men, on the other hand, never need artificial lubrication, either for intercourse or for masturbation.

Therefore, you should restate your question ... something to this effect: "What is the value of circumcision?" I truly do not know.

In other words, you're asking what are the functions of your foreskin, since you're born with it. There's plenty, such as keeping your head sensitive, not needing lubricants for masturbation, and keeping the head moist to prevent it from drying out. Enjoy it; don't let others make you feel bad just because you're in the minority in the US. (being uncircumcised is the norm in the world, since 85% of guys are uncut, and the US is the only "rich" country to circumcise; although the rates are falling; in the West coast it's now at 30% or below).

1) ADVANTAGES OF BEING INTACT:
--Circumcision cuts WAY down on sexual enjoyment for the man due to loss of nerve-rich foreskin.
--Getting cut causes the glans (head) to develop a keratinized layer to protect from rubbing on clothing, further cutting sensation. Many cut men are unable to ejaculate during intercourse and have to finish "by hand." Intact men can "go all the way."
--without foreskin sex feels rough for the woman. Most adult women (about 90%) prefer intact men! http://www.healthcentral.com/drdean/408/60750.html
--foreskin makes masturbation more fun - and better for your partner to play with.
--Circumcision hurts when it's done, even if you were too young to remember it
--a cut penis looks kind of sad with that scar where the foreskin belongs. Uncut is much hotter looking.
--Circumcision has a slight chance of complications. Each year a few baby boys have to have their entire penises amputated and undergo surgery to make them into fake girls. And a few die.

2) ADVANTAGES OF BEING CUT: Circumcision has no advantages that are not fictional or only relevant in a few areas
--You can be just as clean if you are uncircumcised. Wash. It's THAT simple. Even if you're cut, you still need to wash.
-- If you're sleeping around, you need to use condoms regardless or you will get diseases.
--most women are sensible enough not to discriminate against uncut guys. If they do, they are too shallow to bother with and totally ignorant of the pleasure they can get from a WHOLE man.
--Oh, one that may be valid. Some studies have shown a lower rate of cancer of the penis in cut guys, but this cancer is so rare that it's hard to get a good statistical sample. More boys/men die each year from botched circumcisions than from cancer of the penis.
--Recent reports from Africa say that circumcision reduces the risk of AIDS from unprotected hetrosexual activity. This has little relevance to areas of the world where condoms are cheap, readily available, and culturally acceptable. .

Unless circumcision is done for religious reasons (Judaism and Islam, among possible others), it's the family's choice. They can chose to have their infant son circumcised or not.

But there is growing evidence that circumcised men have a lower incidence of STI's, including AIDS. The speculation is that the foreskin can give a place for infectious agents to hide. Yes, I know about pulling back the foreskin to clean, but until you get to that point...

Early in our evolution the extra skin protected our penile head from the environmental elements. Most animals have the ability to retract their penises into some type of protective area, man does not have the ability. So we have extra skin to provide that protection. Today there is no use for it's protective purposes because we wear clothes.

You just didn't have it done. Circumcision is good for personal hygiene and enables the male to keep his private more clean, thus preventing the spread of germs and deceases
