DVD multi and CD-RW/DVD-ROM.
Does it matter if one is slave, the other master? My thinking is that it makes no difference which is which.

Personal preference, really. I have my CD drive set as slave to my DVD drive, but that's only for routing the cable on the inside, for improved airflow.

No that is no longer neccessory even the pc can run with out the optical force it rather is barely required for the minstalling working utility whaether it rather is veru solid in case you have the two optical drives
