Now that the reigning back-to-back MVP Steve Nash sidelined due to injury, and Dirk Nowitzki doing very well in leading the Dallas Mavericks dominate the NBA, can Dirk take the MVP trophy from his former teammate and buddy Steve?

What do you think?

Of course he can, Nash has been working hard to reach his third MVP trophy in a row, but with that injury, nash will slow down a little bit leaving dirk lot of rooms and chances for it.

It should be Nash because he is vital to their successful run. Before he went back to the Suns they were trash. Acquiring Nash and making him their leader, running the offense to suit his talents, helped the other acquisitions like Bell and Diaw raise their games. Besides the Suns are playing the hottest right now. It's not always the person on the best team that gets MVP (why I don't believe Dirk will get MVP trophy; See Detroit Pistons 2006). Like someone said above the MVP goes to the person who if they were injured or unable to play the team would be trash without.

Dirk and Nash are great players, but I think Agent Zero Gilbert Arenas will take the MVP this year....with Dirk in 2nd and Nash in 3rd.

Nope. I think Nash will win it again. His stats are better this year than what they were the past 2 years he has won...Just look at the Suns record while Nash was out with the shoulder injury.(1-3, the Suns are 41-13 as of now...) Without Nash, the Suns can't run their run-and-gun system.

Of course, unless he like ends up in a body cast in the last 20 games. Hes the best player hands down he could stop playing for the rest of the season and still whoop everyones *** on the vote! Steve Nash is a greeaattt player but hes kinda been up and down this year...he'll come back but i dot think he hs that big of a chance

Nash wont win. Quite simply he has won two times and has a ultra talented roster around him. Dirk is the most logical successor and if the Mavs keep going as they have I cant see anyone else passing him in voting.

No, the stats clearly show why D-Wade should win if it weren't for the injury.

Dwyane Wade: 28.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 7.9 apg, 2.1 spg, 1.3 bpg
Dirk Nowitzki: 25.4 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 3.3 apg, 0.8 spg, 0.8 bpg

The only category Dirk is better in than D-Wade is rebounding. Dirk is a 7 feet tall forward and Dwyane is a 6-4 guard, Dirk is supposed to out rebound D-Wade. Dwyane is the best overall player in the league, and he is the reason that Miami is still alive, barely, but still alive. He kept Miami alive when Shaq was out and when Riley was out, No other player would have been able to do what he did.

Nash will probably win again. The guy just keeps getting better and better. Look at how his absence from the lineup affected his team. The totally struggled.

No I think Nash will three-peat. He is the Most Valuable Player in the league. Without him the Suns are not that good.
