The worst name I ever heard was Pitbull Shotgun. I'm not kidding. I saw the name Imunique (I'm unique) on a talk show. And when looking up baby names for my own kids I saw the name Audio Science, in a baby book. Cher has a son named Elijah Bleu, I really like that. It seems as if people try so hard to become original that they go overboard into insane sometimes. OH! There is a rock musician who named his son Speck Wildhorse. When I was a teen ager I babysat for a family who had a Merlin Thunderbolt. For my own kids I took relatively "normal" names and got creative with the spelling. My daughter is Khrystyan (Christian).

I've come across Sahara Breeze. And Berry Bliss. And Laurel Leaf. And Cotton Jenny. Turquoise Rainbow. Summer Breeze is nice too. I love Cherise Amour. Chelsea Blue. Chantilly Lace. And for boys, I love Jett Sett. And Sting Ray. Or Mann Welle.

In the school I work at we have 3 little girls: Aggie Mae, Ursula, and Helen.
I have heard of their names before but not for elementary school children. I do think they are cute though.

I also thought Jaaron was a strange name but I like it.

Chandlee is definitely unique but very pretty.

I had never heard Samara before either.

We have two Ocean's. A girl and a boy. The girl spells her name Oshun and the boy Ocean.

A little boy that goes by A.C. too. He is adorable but his initials make think of air conditioning every time I say it. :)

Oh and in the 2 year old class they have a Richard who goes by Richard, Larry, Joseph (who again goes by Joseph), and Mary Jane. Such a formal group! lol

Oh, and the cutest little girl who is so petite but her name is:
Lilly Stephanie Charlotta Coulbourne. Crazy name!

Guess these aren't "weird" but definitely unique! SD

I work in a hospital, so we see some weird names come through... the nicest name I've seen is Timber (boy), the unfortunate part? his last name is Wolfe. To make it worse, he has an older sibling named Grey. Serious!!

And a set of twin girls were born last week with the last name of Trout (yes, like the fish) and the parents thought it was cute to name them Brooke and Rainbow.

Why do parents have to be SOOO mean??
The girls at least have a chance, they can marry out of their last name.. But the brothers, they are stuck with their name for life.

OH! and my dad went to school with a guy named James Sox -- shorten the first name to the ever popular Jim...and what do you have? Gym socks!!!

Sandrine (sahn-dreen) for a girl
Cookie (girl)
Ayub (Arabic for Hiob, boy)
Milka (girl, like the german chocolate brand)
Sarina (Sah-ree-nah), old Skythe girl name

BTW, Amira (Ah-meerah) is a common, very popular Arabic name. It means princess.

I suppose whenever you search outside your own culture, you get pretty "weird" names. A name that would not be uncommon in Germany might be unheard of in the US.

You could also go for very old names that have been out of fashion for quite a while. Demeter (girl) would be such name.

One of my friends is named Samara, because she was born in Samara, a town in Russia. Her mother was studying abroad and she intended to return home when she was 7 months along. Her baby had other plans, though. :-)
