HAHAHA oh that's funny...
Nickelback is like cliche post-post grunge whose songs are all the same.
Heavy metal is like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, and the plethora of newer bands that exist.

Good question since nickleback is on a record label, Roadrunner Records, that carries bands such as Cradle Of Filth, Mercyful Fate, DragonForce, Slipknot, and Megadeth.
But, no, Nickelback is not heavy metal compared to the other bands I mentioned. I wouldn't say they were hard rock either although some of their songs can get quite heavy.
Rock & Roll would be a fair genre to put them in if one had to.

Not at ALL! I think heavy metal is Metallica. Nickelback is definately not metal.

My favorite bands are As I Lay Dying,August Burns Red,Norma Jean,Winter Solstice,The Devil Wears Prada,and Extol. Those are heavy metal and all christian

lol Nope. They are just plain rock.
Heavy metal is much louder and normally has super insane guitar solos. When you think of heavy metal, think of AC/DC and Metallica.

i think some of the songs they release as singles can be labelled adult conteporary. but most songs on the albums are definately rock.
