I was damn close to buying a PS3 about a week ago but I am not hearing many cries of joy. The local gamestore clerk said the thing is just not what it was hyped up to be. I have heard that Blu-Ray support is beginning to dwindle and on the current cover of Electronic Gaming Magazine it shows poeple throwing tomatoes at it in disappointment. Wait or Buy?

We have all the systems for testing purposes as well a little entertainment. Is the system worth 600? if you factor in all the movie studios now signing on to produce blue ray movies, the blue ray aspect of the system itself is a steal at 600 dollars. People who discuss the system burning up- we watched blue ray movies after two hours of constant game play and we had no issues. (use common sense pull it out of the entertainment center and stand it on it's side)

We've been able to playthe ps2 games without issues including games produced in 2001.

The internet browser isn't as good as the wii for surfing the net but it does surf the net with ease. We hooked a 160gig external hard drive to the ps3 and were able to access it and play and watch videos as if we were on the computer. We were able to move files over with little issue and store and access directly from the ps3. We loaded flash games on and were able to play.

Does it work miracles- no.
But the blue format allows for more to be put into each game on the one disk.

Playstation 3 does offer more out off the box than Xbox 360, and the PS3 network is free to owners of the PS3. (great download of demos.
PS3 premium-60 gig
Blue Ray
True 1080 HiDef
PSP game share
The internal 60 gig hardrive- capable of storing Ps2 memorycard game saves.
Ability to hook up external hard drives-
Key board and mouse abilities
Surf anywhere on the net like any computer (PS3 Has it's own web browser)
Play games- Resistance Fall of Man- Motostorm(out in march)
Play all the Ps2 games if you have ps2

Xbox 360 Premium-
20 gig hard drive
Xbox live has fees but is great fun
Has Great game titles
1080 update available- but not blue Ray
No web Browser for internet browsing

Xbox 360 currently has more games available and Halo 3 is soon to be released.

Both offer WiFI connection to the internet Xbox needs pruchase of extra hardware to do

The Wii is very inovative and is a riot to play. You actually get tired. The internet browser (once downloaded for free on the Wii beats them all. The Wii also allows you to download old nintendo classics to play on the Wii.

Read the article about the PS3. All it said was that the PS3 screwed up with the launch. 1. There was an extreme shortage of PS3 at launch. 2. People were getting the PS3 to auction off on Ebay. 3. No good games following the launch. 4. Only 1 good PS3 exclusive game at launch. 5. Sony isn't really helpful when it comes to developers' asking for support. 6. Violence over the PS3.

The article is mainly about the PS3's miserable launch. If you read the article, there are still developers who will jump through hoops just to developer games for the PS3. If you read further, the mag still thinks that PS3 is going to win this console war. All Sony needs to do is change a few things here and there.

I don't think the Blu-ray support is dwindling at all. To begin with, for every PS3 sold, that's 1 Blu-ray sold. So, how every many PS3 are sold, that's a minimum of how many Blu-ray players that have been sold, and then there's the stand along Blu-ray player from Sony and Samsung. For the HD-DVD, the number sold is the amount sold by Toshiba and the 360 HD-DVD add-on. Those numbers can't compare to the Blu-ray because they're optional, and since most people don't have a HD-TV, they're not going to buy the HD-DVD players. On the other hand, people who wants a PS3, will get a Blu-ray player. Once more people get a HD TV, they're going to go with the Blu-ray format if they have a PS3.

With all that said, I would still say you should wait until at least late summer or early fall before buying a PS3 because there's only about 1 good game coming out for the PS3 per month between now and fall. But in fall, the PS3 should be getting more good games on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

Is the system better than the Wii or Xbox360? Heck yes!!
Look, XBox is owned by a company who creates faulty, bug ridden software(Windows), and the Wii? just go to www.wiihaveaproblem.com or www.wiidamage.com and see all the busted tvs, chandeliers, people, even pets. The PS3 is the best system out there...was it over hyped? Yes, isn't everything nowadays?
I would wait for 1 reason...with all systems, the prices do drop a bit in the following months.

It's not worth getting it yet when there hasn't been enough time for all the problem to occur and be fixed. Also if you just wait until the end of the year you know the prices will drop BIG TIME!!

I wouldn't say so. Good games for it are almost nonexistant, and by time there are some besides resistance and motorstorm, there will more than likely be a pricedrop.

In my opinion, the PS3 will never be worth buying. Ever.

But that's just what I think.
