When you’re watching a movie on television… have you noticed that the commercials go louder. Is this a problem with my TV?

has nothing to do with the tv itself.
usually, the reason that happens, is because the commercials are coming from your local station. the same program will have different commercials in different areas. the movie itself is broadcast by the main network, and then the affilliates put in their own commercials during the breaks. the audio levels are not always the same, which results in louder or sometimes quieter commercials.

Maybe the FCC, but I find it easy to just put the TV on mute with my remote control during commercials, when I(infrequently) watch TV. This may not work for everyone; it would be great if someone could invent a device that automatically shuts off the sound during TV commercials, and puts it back on when programming resumes. Certainly, the networks and advertisers won't like it, but I think such a device would be great.

No problem with your TV - they always play the commercials louder. Been that way for many years.

OMG...I HATE that!! I'm constantly turning the volume up and down on my TV. I've heard that the commercials are broadcast on a different frequency than the programming. It's not the TV.

Have you noticed too, that it's worse later at night? Like all nightowls are deaf or something!!

Nothing's wrong with your TV. Advertisers always make the ads louder so they get your attention. I mute the TV when the ads come on.

It happens quite a lot. Not for all commercials, but most. It is done purposefully so that you will hear the message loud and clear. They want you to buy the product, so they want to get your attention.

No its not a problem with your tv this is very deliberate by the advertisers because they want your attention - and ultimately your money. Just mute them or switch channels when they come on.
