i have tried google desktop and still it will not find certain documents with the words I am looking for.I have also tried micrsoft desktop with the same results.

I think that Copernic is more powerful than the built in Windows search function. It's easy to install and just as easy to uninstall if you don't like it. And it's free.

If you're running Windows XP:
Click "Start," then "Search."
Then follow the steps, and there should be a box that says "a word or phrase in the document" in the advanced options.
