My mother listened to all of the good 80s rock music, Journey, Toto, Foreigner, Rush, you name it she listened to it. Yes, I'm part black, and I like rock music. So what's up with that?

Some people love to stereotype, you know? I know black people who listen to ONLY rock and pop music.

I listen to rock and some heavy metal, a lot of which I do not like. I like disturbed, metallica, nirvana, godsmack, red hot chili peppers, etc. I like alternative and light rock more though. John Mayer was doing a concert in my town around Valentines day and when I mentioned to my white coworker that I was going to see him with a friend she was surprised lol. Most of the boyfriends I have had listen to rock, so there is no conflict of interest in that area :-)

Why don't some White people like rap music? I like some rock such as My Chemical Romance, Green Day, Gwen Stefani, Nirvana, Alanis morissette, Maroon 5 etc.. There are a lot of Black people that are open minded and like everything not just things associated with Black people.

I agree with you! I'm completely 3/4 black, 1/4 Korean, and I listen to rock music all the time.

I'm Black, too, and you're more likely to catch me listening to Evanescence than 50 Cent.

As for Black rock bands, how about Living Colour and TV on the Radio? There's also Fefe Dobson, but she's more of pop-punk sound.

I'm Black and I like all types of music except Heavy metal and not too much rap. I love Alanis Mourisette(if I spelled that right), also My Chemical Romance, that song called "Lips of an Angel" and I like Evanessence. Music is just one thing I can't live without.

Sterotypes! My husband is black & we both enjoy rock music, particularly 80's-your mom sounds cool! The white folks he knows are always amused that he likes so called "white" music. GO FIGURE!!
