Yours
1. Babe Ruth - obviously
2. Barry Bonds - Could have been the greatest - can't have him, cheater
3. Cal Ripken, Jr. - Iron man was most consistent, not greatest
4. Ty Cobb - I don't disagree, but I don't agree - he's too old
5. Hank Aaron - hard to deny him
Mine - since I don't disagree with Ty and Hank I'll bump them up
1. Babe
2. Ted Williams - somebody was right, greatest hitter ever (besides cheater Bonds, side-show act Babe Ruth)
3. Jackie Robinson - broke the color barrier and brought 5 tools
4. Willie Mays - Bonds without juice
5. Hank Aaron - that's a lot of homers
I would like a pitcher actually, but I will get yelled at for Nolan Ryan. Who is your number one pitcher?

Bonds???
Realize people, Bonds was good, but he wasn't break-Hank-Aaron's-record good before he went and sold his soul.
Even if he were to have kept clean, he was not even close to being better than top 20 OF'ers.
Anyhow, you cannot break it down to Top 5 because someone else's Top 5 with the remainder would still be pretty formidable.
Imagine:
Ruth, Williams, Mays, Mantle, Cobb
vs.
Clemente, Aaron, Dimaggio, Wagner, Gehrig
vs.
Big Papi

Good question.
Ruth is a natural for what he did when no one else was hitting home runs.
I'd also include Cobb and Aaron from your list for obvious reasons.
But Bonds and Cal come up short in my book.
Willie Mays hit 660 HRs without Roids and whatever else has made Barry's head grow. He needs to be on the list.
And I would include Joe Dimaggio as well.
Of course, there are no pitchers on our lists. But Walter Johnson, Christy Mathewson, Cy Young, Bob Gibson and Roger Clemens should get consideration.
