He's out for the year with a dislocated shoulder. Can Shaq carry the load?

No, they have no one else on the roster that can give them the combination of speed defense and leadership that wade brings...Williams cant step thru double teams and finish, block shots...and has minimal defense...Shaq will get more touches and attempts but defenses will sag and his free throw shooting will once again become suspect...there will be no defense of their title this year

I honestly think that the Heat will not make the playoffs this season because of two reasons. 1, Shaq's not getting any younger and he definitely can't carry the rest of the load himself. 2, When Dwyane Wade is on the floor in the court, especially in the fourth quarter, he opens up the floor better than Shaq. And if he's not passing, he's knocking down contested jumpers or driving to the rim and finishing eye popping plays. I think that they will finish 9th or 10th in the conference.

Shaq can't carry the load for the Heat. Wade needs to be playing for the Heat for them make it in the playoffs. Without Wade the Heat won't make it to the playoffs.

its hard to say, but never say die in the eastern conference. all the divisions are up for grabs so miami has as much of a chance as anybody. maybe they will use d-wade's season ending injury as inspiration to push themselves harder to win and get themselves deep into the playoffs. i know if they did that a lot more people (especially those like me who have been very disappointed with the heat so far this season) would have more respect for them as the defending champs. they might not seem like a threat now, but shaq is back, j-will, and pat riley too so they could just do it. but somebody next to shaq needs to seriously step up and help carry this team.

I love the Heat, their my second favortie team (after the Los Angeles Lakers of course) but without Wade there's no one else who can put the team on his back and carry them to the playoffs. Let's face it Shaq's best years are way behind him and he's still not healthy anyways. We certainly can't rely on the other older players such as Payton, Walker, and even Zo(i love you). And we can't rely on the inexperienced younger players such as Haslem, Eddie Jones, and Kopono even though they are all terrific players. Sadly there isn't anyone else that can step up to the plate to bring them to the next level like Wade can.

I don't think they will, but with the East being as weak as it is at the bottom of the conference I wouldn't be surprised if they some how was able to hold on to eighth seed.

I am not sure they can make it with Wade, they just dont seem to want it as much this year. Last year it seemed like they wanted it and nobody was going to stop them.

they have a chance because all the eastern confrence teams suck this year. it would be easy for the teams to make the playoffs even if they have more loosing games then winning games. so miami WILL make the playoffs but detroit pistons will win.
