I am a Canadian citizen currently living and working in another country. My whole family is here and I was wondering if I need to still file taxes for the Canadian government? Thanks.

It depends on whether you have significant residential ties in Canada - ie wife is in Canada, you own a house/car, etc...In order to sort out what your status is, give ITSO, International Tax Service Office, a call. Their phone number is, 1.800.267.5177 if you are within Canada or the US. Outside Canada/US, call 1.613.952.3741 (they accept collect calls).

Other info worth looking at:

- IT-221, Determination of an Individual's Residence Status
- T4058, Non-residents and income tax

All these info can be found in the CRA website, www.cra.gc.ca.

I agree with dude. It totally depends on if you have income from canadian property. Then you've gotta file it as business income as a non-resident. For tax purposes, you are a non-resident of canada assuming that you have no residential ties with canada, and you do not spend more than 183 days sojourning in canada.

It depends on how many ties you still have to Canada. The link below should give you enough info to determine if you still need to file.
