Downloading Limewire is not illegal because there are legal uses of the program. However, downloading and sharing copyrighted files without permission is illegal. Even if they are under 18, the RIAA can still subpoena the IP address. When this happens, the parents end up having to settle, usually for a cost of around $3,000.

Yes the child can get arrested if the child engaged in illegal activity, selling copyrighted material. The parents of the child can only get in trouble if they knowingly allowed the child to engage in this illegal activity but downloading limewire for personnel use is currently not THE CRIME.

Only if your downloading copywrited material. thie RIAA (diherria more commonly known) would get a hard on just to sue the child and the parent. Granted the child could be incapable of understanding what they are doing, the lawyers would have a heyday

It doesn't matter what age you are, you can be arrested for unlawful use. I wouldn't worry about it. Do you know how many people have limewire including me? lol.

Depends on what the child downloads. Copyrighted material...yes they can get charged with infringement, not the parents.
The RIAA takes children to court and sues the **** out of them all the time. Whether they win or not, I do not know. But, it is funny that you can record music on a tape and give it to your friends but not share it.
