Look at the bottom of the chip where it attaches to the system board. You will see a series of gold "dots". Those are the pins. Count them.

check the specs for your computer, current desktops are using 184 pins, laptops are using 240, older styles could be using 168 or less, it really depends on what the motherboard was built to handle.
