It is human nature to flirt. Straight guys flirt with each other all the time (they don't call it that... but it happens) and gay guys do flirt with the opposite sex as well. Take it as it is and nothing more. Don't over annalyse it unless you feel he is really sending you signals that he may be into you more than a "gay pal" should be.

Flirting with someone has very little to do with wanting to actually bed them. It's just another form of social interaction and means very little.
Gay guys flirt with women, and lesbians with men, cos it's safe - the ground rules are established at the outset, there's never going to be any confusion (except in this instance!) cos you both know the score - you can just enjoy flirting for flirting's sake.
Like you said - you're just joking around. Enjoy it and don't read into it.

yes gay people flirt with the opposite sex,we don't do it seriously,it's all harmless fun as long as the other person knows we are gay! Of course it's natural for you to be confused and to react like you would if he were straight-but he isn't,so just treat it as a bit of fun,gay men can be totally outrageous flirts but it doesn't mean anything to him in that dept. he obviously likes you but just as a friend.

The question is: Does he identify as gay? or do you assume he is because he hasn't had a girlfriend?
Sexuality is complicated. He could be bisexual but identify as gay, or he could be experimenting. Either way, its very difficult to determine as you'd have to know his intimate feelings.
Some gays probably do flirt with the opposite sex but wouldn't go to bed with them (or they'd be bisexual or straight). In any case, there isn't anyway of knowing for sure unless his flirting goes further.

Of course gay people flirt with the opposite sex. Flirting is a natural tendency that is quite harmful. I think that you should be flattered. Cmon, we all love being flirted with. As a mo, my favorite pastime is to flirt with my girlies. All it does is release endorphins that cause us to giggle and feel good, who doesnt need a laugh these days. I can assure you that your manager likes you in a platonic way. He is confortable enough to joke. Have fun and flirt back, I bet you that work is much more fun when he's around.

Some people are just really flirty. I know straight people who flirt with gay people just to get a reaction out of them. Sometimes what we perceive as flirtation may just be the person being friendly and sociable.

You can't say all gay people act the exact same way. Everyone is different.
I'm gay, but I have had sexual flings with a few women.
I have some very good lesbian friends. One of them is always flirting with me. It's innocent and fun. But I can tell that she is actually attracted to me. I think she is quite attractive as well.
I don't believe human sexuality is either/or. It's not that cut-and-dried. Most of us, if we are to take the Kinsey Reports at their word, are somewhere between exclusively straight, or exclusively gay.

I've seen straight males flirt with other men jokingly. I think we all naturally flirt occasionally.

They flirt just like every one else just its not to get you in the sack...A gay guy is still a guy and have the same kind of attitude a regular straight guy would have...the only diffrence is whom he goes to bed with...take it as fun and treat him like any other friend you would have that you don't sleep with.

Melissa I think you are very good friends that get on with each other well. But there is no chance that he is going to ask you for a date unless it is just to say thank you with a nice meal etc., He appreciates you and you have a good friend there that will help you if you need him to but thats as far as it goes. Still be nice to him you never know when you need a friend.
