If you are new to the genre and are asking some good to things to start off with, I would recommend Kanye West's last two albums and maybe Lupe Fiasco. They are sort of a bridge between pop, rap, and rock and are rich in storytelling. You might as well get some depth.

Anything by the Black Eyed Peas (Preferably the Monkey Business album)....They're hip-hop, and they rock! I love them....And if you dont already know about them you should check them out.
